Leena Linnainmaa works as Director at the Central Chamber of Commerce of Finland and is a member of the Chamber’s executive management team. Her department runs the Finnish Panel on Take-overs and Acquisitions in addition to licensing the Finnish real estate agents, goods inspectors and property valuers. Professionally, she is mainly active in company law, corporate governance, and consumer legislation. Her duties include representing commerce and industry in legislation. She is a member of numerous legislative working groups and committees at the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Trade and Industry. She attends expert hearings at parliamentary committees and gives statements on new legislation to different ministries. She is also member of the European Commission’s network of stakeholder experts on European contract law (CFR-net) and European Commission’s Network of Women in Decision-making.
Before her present employment at the Central Chamber of Commerce of Finland she was Legal Counsel at the Finnish Bankers’ Association and Secretary General of the Deposit Guarantee Fund and the Investors Compensation Fund. She has worked for over 10 years in the financial sector and during that time her duties have included being secretary of board of directors and board of supervisors. At present she is a member of the board of directors of some unlisted companies, including GS1 Finland Ltd. Leena Linnainmaa is President of the European Women Lawyers Association (EWLA, www.ewla.org) and has held leading positions in other NGOs as well. She is author or co-author of ca 12 legal books, the majority of them focusing on liabilities of real estate transactions. She often acts as lecturer at conferences, seminars and training courses. Her mother tongue is Finnish and she is fluent in English and Swedish. She also speaks German and French and has basic knowledge of Spanish. |
